WHAT: Rough and Ready Secession Day, the 62nd annual modern celebration
commemorating the 1850 secession of Rough and Ready from the Union and
the formation and the 3-month life of the Great Republic of Rough and Ready.
WHEN: Sunday, June 24, 2018, beginning at 7am
WHERE: Downtown Rough and Ready, located 5 miles west of Grass Valley on Rough and Ready Highway. Free parking available athe Community Hall (formerly the Grange Hall) and The Animal Clinic of Rough and Ready.
ADMISSION: Free
ACTIVITIES:
★ Breakfast sponsored by the R&R Firefighter’s Assoc. in the Fire Station (starts at 7am.
$8.00 adults/$6 children)
★ Live Music by Plinky and Plunky (Starts around 9am)
★ Chili Cookers start cooking around 9am with tasting beginning at 1pm
★ Presentation by Great-Great Grandson of R&R Founder, Capt. A.A. Townsend
★ Chili Tasting Kits go on sale for $5.00 at 11:00am
★ Inflatable Play Area for the kids with Bounce House and Water Slide
★ Crafters and Peddlers Fair
Hamburgers and Bake Sale from the Rough and Ready Community Center
★ Live Blacksmith Demonstrations with Michael Smallwood
★ Pulled Pork Sandwiches with chips and drink available from Firefighter’s Behind the Scenes
in the Fire Station
★ Revival of "The Saga of Rough and Ready" Melodrama starts around 10:30
★ Rough and Ready Souvenir Sales
PROCEEDS: All proceeds benefit non-profit Rough and Ready organizations: The Chamber of Commerce, the Rough and Ready Community Center and The Volounteer Firefighter's Association.
